THE LIGHT PROGRAM

WHO ARE WE?

Leaders In God’s Holy Training;

“Apprenticing youth in the way of Christ as life-long citizens of the Kingdom of God.”

In the LIGHT program our mission is to equip youth  to become faithful citizens of the Kingdom who  engage in relational ministry at camp and in the local church.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The LIGHT program is designed for students who Love Jesus and want to serve effectively in camp ministry and in their local churches throughout the year. The LIGHT program is a leadership-program, so students will be expected to show initiative and passion in service, even if they’re serving behind the scenes. The LIGHT program is an essential facet of how Camp operates, and facilitates the building of relationships between other campers and staff.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We  equip youth with hands on leadership skills in various roles.

We provide a space for youth to encounter God in biblical, meaningful ways.

We teach teenagers how to effectively grow their relationship with Jesus

We serve camp in meaningful and essential ways.

CORE EXPERIENCE

CORE EXPERIENCE

We seek to shape our volunteers in the following ways;

Identity:

Students will learn to reidentify with Christ and his Church rather than finding their identity in their skills, contributions, qualities, or assets. This will be best achieved through the Christ-centred friendships in the program, as well as the biblical curriculum and PURSUIT times where students are taught to pursue a relationship with Jesus outside of Camp.

Biblical Literacy:

Students will take a brief overview of scripture through “The Bible Project” videos, and daily times of study in the Word. By introducing students to the narrative of scripture they will learn to re-story their own lives, as well as to read scripture in a Christ-centred way.

Practical Leadership:

Faith Bible Camp practices the same kind of leadership as Jesus: Servant Leadership. Students will be apprenticed in this kind of leadership so that they not only provide an invaluable service for camp, but so that they grow a heart of love and compassion for those that they are serving.

Competent Service:

Students will not only be apprenticed in the heart of service we expect in our staff, but also in hard skills and abilities to serve well in different roles at camp. Students will be introduced to and co-lead activities like archery, mountain biking, and Rock-wall climbing. Students will also be given the opportunity to apprentice under Cabin Leaders so they are equipped to be one if they ever desire to be.
